Slaughter more than ready to play bigger role for Ginebra

first_imgGetting the first win in the bag is a big step for Ginebra, especially for Slaughter who sees this conference as an acid test for his side to prove that it can win titles without the help of a reinforcement.“Last conference, we won the championship with Justin (Brownlee), and that’s great. But now that we’re without him, we’ve got to step up and I’m ready to take on that role,” he said as he and the rest of the Gin Kings seek to build on this victory moving forward.“It’s only our first game and the goal for us is to win the championship. It’s good to get that first win, but we still got a lot of room to improve.”Ginebra will face GlobalPort next on January 7.ADVERTISEMENT OSG plea to revoke ABS-CBN franchise ’a duplicitous move’ – Lacson Photo by Tristan Tamayo/ INQUIRER.netBOCAUE — Counted on to be the main man for Ginebra this 2018 PBA Philippine Cup, Greg Slaughter is well aware of the larger load he has to carry for the Gin Kings this season.“I understand that I have a big responsibility now. Morrison follows golden performance in 1,000 metre with gold in 1,500

first_imgThe World Cup speed skating season could not have ended any better for Denny Morrison. After winning gold in the 1,000 on Saturday in Germany, he followed that up with another golden performance in the 1,500 on Sunday. The performance also allowed Morrison to jump from fifth in the overall season standings in the 1,500 to first. He finished the race 1:45.15.- Advertisement -In a Speed Skating Canada release Morrison admitted the feat was one that he was targeting but he wasn’t sure if it would ever come to fruition.“It was such a surprise to win the season title. It was a goal of mine in 2007 and 2013, but being injured in 2013 put an end to any chance of that happening. Racing to a win at a clutch moment paid off big time and I couldn’t be happier to have achieved one of my career goals today, one that I thought might never happen.”last_img read more

COUNTDOWN TO CROKER: MICKEY HARTE -“LEO MCLOONE IS THE UNSUNG HERO OF DONEGAL”

first_imgTyrone manager Mickey Harte has praised the influence of Leo McLoone on this current Donegal side ahead of their All-Ireland SFC final against Kerry.Harte believes the Glenties man doesn’t receive enough recognition for how important he is to the Donegal system.Harte told Charlie Collins at the Donegal Daily ‘Up For The Match’ that McLoone was a vital cog in Donegal’s system, and feels he doesn’t get the recognition he deserves. Harte said, “Leo McLoone is brilliant player, he gets through a mountain of work, and is vitally important to Donegal.“He’s so important to their system, he works so hard, he picks up breaks, he starts attacks, he stops attacks, he’s a super player and doesn’t get the recognition he deserves.Harte pointed to the goals McLoone netted in the earlier rounds of the Ulster Championship.“He took his goals so well against Derry and Antrim, and scored them at crucial stages. “The Derry goal was a huge one and he stepped up to the plate, when they needed it.“They’ll be a lot of speculation on who will start and who won’t start, but he’ll certainly be in the starting line-up on Sunday.COUNTDOWN TO CROKER: MICKEY HARTE -“LEO MCLOONE IS THE UNSUNG HERO OF DONEGAL” was last modified: September 19th, 2014 by Mark ForkerShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:donegalLeo McLoonemickey hartenewsSportlast_img read more
