Men’s Golf Opens The Month At The NYX Hoosier Invitational

first_imgBLOOMINGTON, Ind.  – The Drake University men’s golf team travels to Bloomington, Ind. for the NYX Hoosier Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Indiana University Golf Course. The 52-hole event is hosted by Indiana features 14 teams; Bradley, Detroit, Drake, Eastern Kentucky, Evansville, George Washington, Illinois State, IPFW, IUPUI, Oakland, Ohio, Western Illinois and Youngstown State. The first 36 holes will be played on Saturday, featuring 8:30 a.m. ET shotgun start and the final 18 holes will start at 9:15 a.m. ET on Sunday. The Bulldogs enter this weekend’s tournament coming off of their best performance of the season as they finished in fourth-place out of 24 teams at the Kingsmill Intercollegiate. Sophomore Drew Ison fired a career-low 66 (-4), tied for the lowest round of the day on the final round, finishing in fourth place with a score of 210 (74-70-66). Ison’s fourth place finish was his first top-five finish of the season and second of his career. Freshman Tommi Avant recorded career-low 54-hole total score of 213 (68-72-73) and placed tied for seventh which was his first top-10 finish of his career. Fellow freshman Jack Kennedy shot a one-over par 71 to finish the 54-hole event with a 222 (74-77-71), while sophomore Matt Lavery finished just two shots behind Kennedy with a 224 (77-72-75). Senior Blake Huser rounded out the Bulldogs’ effort with a score of 233 (76-77-80). Following the Hoosier Invitational, the Bulldogs will play at the ORU Shootout on April 11 through April 12,  before heading to the MVC Championship on April 25 through April 26.  Print Friendly Versionlast_img read more
